A simple guide to getting a Pi connected to the Diode network

Diode’s CTO Dominic Letz, blockchain engineer Peter Lai, and I recently released a demo video on YouTube. It’s a simple, unique step-by-step guide, perfect for engineers who are interested in blockchain technologies, embedded devices, and how peer-to-peer (P2P) networks work.

In this video, you will learn how to get your Raspberry Pi connected to Diode’s peer-to-peer network. The Diode network is a blockchain peer-to-peer network designed for Internet of Things (IoT) embedded devices. Website: https://diode.io/ Github: https://github.com/diodechain

Video script is now publicly available on HackMD.

Steps included:

  1. Install Diode go client (https://github.com/diodechain/diode_go_client)
  2. Register a fleet contract with the Diode testnet website (https://diode.io/testnet)
  3. Add device to the Whitelist
  4. Configure proxy settings in Firefox — about:preferences
  5. Connect to the Diode P2P network
  6. Run a live video streaming with “diode.link”

At Diode, we are constantly thinking about how to build a better Internet. How can we bring value to the web? We are seeing a trend of moving away from the client-server model towards peer-to-peer networks, and that’s what Diode is all about. It’s about imaging and building a new way of thinking about the web.

If you believe in the vast potential of a decentralized web, I invite you to join the Diode Telegram group. Follow our Twitter to get the latest development updates.
